SunCity Paradise: Coming from Adelaide, South Australia, describe growing up there. What’s the lifestyle like and where would you suggest a first-time visitor to go and see?

Brooke Evers: I was born in Adelaide, South Australia but moved to the beautiful Gold Coast a year later. The Gold Coast would have to be one of the most breathtaking cities of the world. From the beaches to the hinterland and everywhere in between the Gold Coast is definitely a place for everyone’s bucket list.

SCP: Describe your ability to work while simultaneously traveling around the world. Does it get chaotic?

BE: When I’m on the road working I find it a little hard to stay focused as all I want to do is explore the city. I get a lot of inspiration from meeting new people and seeing different acts perform so you can call that working in a way, but getting me to sit still isn’t the easiest thing.

SCP: Previously working with Billabong and Rip Curl, you’ve had the chance to see some of the most beautiful beach destinations. Which ones stand out in your eyes? How cool is the surfing aspect? Do you ride?

BE: The best beaches in the world would have to be Gold Coast, Byron Bay and North Shore, Hawaii. They are my top three destinations for sure. Surfing has been a big part of my life growing up. I dated a pro surfer, I love surfing myself and I’ve worked for major surf labels, so yeah it’s taken up a lot of my life. Surfers are unique humans that feed off the ocean and the wildlife, so to me that’s just simply sexy, plus the ocean is so good for the mind and body.

SCP: From dancing to DJing you now live the ultimate music and travel lifestyle. How do they compliment and go hand-in-hand with each other?

BE: I grew up dancing alongside the biggest DJs in the world such as Bob Sinclair, Tommy Trash, Nervo … etc. I’d dance to their music on stage or near the DJ box for hours every weekend becoming obsessed with what they did. I’d watch the DJs work the crowd and I soon started thinking that was an area I wanted to discover. About six years later I bought decks and taught myself in my lounge room at home while working as a journalist in Sydney.

SCP: When searching for a personal getaway, are you looking for a serene beach or after a more active, adventurous getaway? Why?

BE: When I get time off in Australia I go to my house in Byron Bay and try and spend as much time as I can lying on the beach, hiking, eating organic and just losing myself in nature. I like to keep really fit most of the year so exercise on my holidays is perfect!

SCP: One of our core objectives at SCP is to bring people together while traveling, not only to influence people to see and appreciate our beautiful world, but to also minimize cross-cultural divides. What effect does traveling, specifically surrounding dance music, have on humans in this regard? How has it broadened your perspective of the world?

BE: Music festivals such as Coachella, Tomorrowland, EDC and Ultra provide back to back performances by the worlds greatest artists bringing in over 200,000 party goers together from all parts of the globe. This just shows how music connects people and provides happiness to all.

SCP: Everyone has a list of places that they haven’t seen yet, but want to. What are some of the places you can’t wait to hit? Why?

BE: I’d love to travel to India, Africa and Brazil over the next couple of years. I want to see India for it’s food, people and cultural beliefs, Africa for its beautiful wildlife and Brazil as it’s one of the craziest party countries in the world.

SCP: Most destinations have a festival that they’re known for, whether it’s Mardi Gras in New Orleans or Oktoberfest in Munich. Which one would you choose to attend? Why?

BE: I would love to go to a number of festivals in Holland, because my family is originally from there. It would just be so much fun being together!

SCP: Lastly, when’s the next vacation and where to?

BE: No idea! It’s a big year ahead so there are no vacations anytime soon.
