New Jersey is known for more than just its gorgeous coastline. Its foliage-covered mountains give people possibilities year-round, but with the fall in full swing lets look into some activities to keep in mind. So, in an effort to stay busy during the fall, here are some options to keep in mind.
Hiking
If you’re interested in outdoor exploration then a nice hiking trip may be the way to go for you. Spending the day in the wooded outdoors is not only a relaxing way to enjoy your weekend, it’s also a peaceful one too. A nice local mountain or hiking trail is a simple but dependable travel plan at no cost to you.
Camping
Local campgrounds or state parks are great places for weekend getaways. While going camping may not seem like much of a treat to begin with, it’s more of a “create your own adventure” type ordeal. You control the activities and (hopefully) the environment. It’s also a great place to find some peace and get away from all the distractions of daily life.
Carnivals
Fairs, festivals and carnivals are plentiful throughout the fall season. A great place for family fun, these wonderlands tend to light on the wallet with plenty of games to play and prizes to win. These events are usually local so you don’t have to travel far from home to have fun.

Stay Home
During the fall it seems to be everyone’s first choice to go out and enjoy the last bit of nice weather before the winter months. But, oftentimes the best location is home. A barbecue with friends around a fire pit during sweater/sweatshirt weather makes for some of the most memorable nights. So, if you’re spot for choice and can’t think of something to do for the weekend, stay home. Besides, you can save some money to travel later.
